  • Amy Woodforde-Finden

    A highly successful composer of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, Amy Woodforde-Finden, together with her husband and step-son, is laid to rest in the churchyard of St Thomas à Becket Parish Church. Inside the church there is an impressive marble monument of her, created by the renowned sculptor George Edward  Wade. It was unveiled in 1923 and a few years later, Finden Gardens in Hampsthwaite was named in her honour.[Click on title or image to link to articles]

Using Free Online Tools

All links to software listed below are given in good faith to what are believed to be reputable sources and not just time-limited demos. Some are 'lite' versions of more comprehensive commercial products and others, quite reasonably, include the offer to make a voluntary donation to support their continued development.

Google

In addition to its well-known Search Engine and GMail, Google provides many other free-to-use products and applications.

Google Mail - Gmail makes emailing, chatting, and archiving your mail and conversations very easy and convenient.

Google Translate- Instantly translate text, web pages and files between over 50 languages.

Google Calendar- Organise your schedule and share events with friends

Google Picasa - Organize, edit, and share your photos

.Google Maps - maps can be used to find directions, plan routes, search landscapes and can be integrated into users' own web sites for particular purposes (e.g. running routes or cycling routes - see Mapometer)
Google Earth - this will be familiar through using StreetView on Google Maps but there is much more it can do if downloaded as a full application.
Google Sites - a free and easy way to create and share webpages (you will need a Google Account to access this)
