  • Amy Woodforde-Finden

    A highly successful composer of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, Amy Woodforde-Finden, together with her husband and step-son, is laid to rest in the churchyard of St Thomas à Becket Parish Church. Inside the church there is an impressive marble monument of her, created by the renowned sculptor George Edward  Wade. It was unveiled in 1923 and a few years later, Finden Gardens in Hampsthwaite was named in her honour.[Click on title or image to link to articles]

  • Sunday 13 March - Frank McCaffrey


    Frank McCaffrey ( http://www.frankmccaffrey.net/ ) is from Westport in Co Mayo. He started his musical career at an early age and formed his first band with some friends while still at school. When he left school he joined a local band‚ ‘The Beatminstrels‚’ and then later joined ‘The Frielmen’.
    In 1970 he turned professional and began playing bass guitar in ‘Margo and the Country Folk‚’ (Daniel O’Donnell's sister). Five years later he left to form his own band‚ ‘Band of Gold.’ In 1983 Frank made the decision to become a solo artist and was signed to Ritz records.

    Sean Cuddy ( http://www.shawncuddy.co.uk/ ) served his time and learned his craft having done support to JOHNNY CASH and touring the UK with FOSTER and ALLEN, with this experience behind him SHAWN has become a very polished entertainer and singer.Shawn has Ten CD Albums and Five DVD’S recorded and has achieved Best Entertainer, Best Country Singer and had Hit Singles in the charts many times over the years. Shawn’s latest album, titled “Silver Gems”, is proving to be a winner with his fans with four originals on it and some standards. His latest single “If I had a Hammer” is taken from this new album which is on the Arran label.

From Irish ballads, country, gospel songs to sing-a longs and from music of the 50’s and 60’s they are all produced in his own unique and engaging style.

    In 2001 John McNicholl ( http://www.johnmcnicholl.com ) was the proud recipient of the Best Newcomer Award from Country Music UK. Among other great highlights of John’s singing career to date include sharing a stage with Daniel O’ Donnell and Sir Cliff Richard at the Kincasslagh Festival, County Donegal. John also played support to the legendary Sir. Elton John.
